Intern - Writer/Researcher 2015

Please note: Internships only available to SA Citizens who are younger than 30years old and have not been enrolled in an internship programme before. 

As an intern assisting with research your key role will be to investigate specific topics, story lines, information, possible talent and other creative reference material of interest to the company and/or specific projects and archive research appropriately.

Duties include:

He/she must conduct thorough research on specific topics using the Internet, libraries, books, magazines and other unique and inventive sources
He/she will need to work to tight deadlines
Sole reliance on the Internet as a source of information will not be accepted, as this is not adequate. For many projects it will be essential to conduct interviews, in person, over the telephone or using Skype. It is essential that all conversations are recorded and archived
Quality note taking of even the shortest of conversations or piece of research is crucial. The archiving system created and utilised by the researcher must be user friendly, therefore easy to follow and clearly marked
He/she will need to archive all reference material including articles, stills, recorded material and footage
He/ she must keep abreast of social media trends and other news regarding online marketing. He/she will constantly researching online and using these social media sites as part of his/her research as well as updating the company's online media sites. It will be important for him/her to update the necessary staff on any important developments in this area (online marketing)
He/she will also be expected to assist with updating the company's website and social media sites with information, still photographs and other news that is relevant
From time to time the intern will be asked to write creative briefs and storyboards for specific productions in order to assist with workload and develop their writing skills. They will be required to combine their research and the project brief and work on formulating an appropriate storyline for a project, according to which footage can be shot
Assist with answering the door and phone
Be ready and available to assist with other areas of the business when required
He/she will need to exercise creativity in terms of their writing, research and in terms of the company's social media strategy
He/she will be key in developing and growing Ginkgo's social media presence

Studied or is studying to become a researcher and/or writer
Excellent English writing skills
The intern will need to be dedicated, willing to work overtime when necessary and to tight deadlines
The intern will need to be open minded and proactive in developing relationships with staff at Ginkgo in order to grow and make a success of the internship


Studied course relating to online marketing and social media (added benefit but not essential)
Must be resourceful, creative and up to date with social media trends and research techniques

Creative and innovative
Able to work independently and proactively but still work as a part of a team.
Have the confidence to interact at all levels and to present when required.
