Purpose – Armscor actively participates in addressing the shortage of critical and scarce skills by promoting its career opportunities for young South Africans. Armscor’s bursary scheme and apprenticeship and entrepreneurial training are initiatives for developing critical and scarce skills and building capacity for South Africa’s defence industry.
BURSARY SCHEME: Grade 12 and proof of admission from local universities to study towards aeronautics, mechatronics, electrical/electronics, mechanical engineering, Computer science and Ergonomics disciplines.
APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING: Qualifying young people attend theory training at various technical, vocational and education training colleges and are given on-the-job training at the Dockyard until they are ready to do their trade test as rigger, electrician, electrical fitter, or fitter and turner.
ENTREPRENEURIAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS TRAINING: This initiative aims to empower the beneficiaries with a range of skills for the workplace.
The Armscor Human Resources Department’s Learning and Talent Development Division currently has the following opportunities for military veterans or dependants:
BURSARIES (5 vacancies): Requirements: Grade 12 and proof of admission from local universities to study towards aeronautics, mechatronics, electrical/electronics, mechanical engineering, computer science and ergonomics disciplines.
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (5 vacancies): Requirements: Applicants must have passed Grade 9 with mathematics and science and/or AET level 4. A national vocational certificate would be an advantage.
