Vacation Work Opportunity at CSIR 2015

The CSIR has Vacation Work opportunities in the Earth Observation Science and Information Technology (EOSIT) competence area, within the Meraka Institute. The vacation work programme is designed to provide students with first-hand work experience in a dynamic, cutting-edge environment. These opportunities are based in Pretoria.The CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) is a leading scientific and technology research organisation, implementing projects throughout Africa and making a difference in people’s lives.

About the unit:

EOSIT uses advanced information technology to derive information from large volumes of satellite data and therefore employs staff with diverse backgrounds, namely: geomatics; environmental/computer science; and electronic engineering.

Minimum requirements:

  • Applicants must be South African citizens.

  • Currently enrolled as a final-year Bachelor or Honours degree student in computer science, electronic engineering, geo-informatics, environmental and geographic information science;

  • Strong software development skills.

  • Minimum of 60% academic average.

  • Certified copy of a South African ID

  • Copy of CV.
