Trainee Tour Consultant Intern at Siyabona Africa Travel

Siyabona Africa Travel is an inbound tour operator based in Cape Town, specializing in tailor-made itineraries and packages for inbound guests to Southern Africa and more specifically Kruger National Park and private game reserves as our main product.

We are currently looking for a hard-working, driven, trainee consultant to be appointed on an entry level 3 month temporary basis.  Successful trainees would have the possibility of a full term position as a Junior Sales Consultant either in our Cape Town office or as an external consultant based in Gauteng or Mpumalanga after.

Training will be conducted in Pretoria, Mondays to Fridays from 8am until 5pm as well as every alternating Saturday and public holidays from 8am until 1pm.  It will be beneficial if the candidate is based in Gauteng, or would be able to attend the program on a 3 month basis at this location.

Key responsibilities would include consultation with international guests on their travel plans and preparing of detailed itineraries and quotations.

The role requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, excellent communication, great time management skills, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well under pressure.

At the end of the short term internship, candidates must excel in the following without supervision to be considered for a full time long-term position:
Reservations of accommodation, flights, car rental, guides, tour packages etc. and dealing with suppliers on a daily basis including provisional bookings, cancellations, changes etc.
Daily email consultation with prospective clients with a fast turnaround time.
Creating quotations, vouchers, final itineraries, etc. for clients.
Working on an interactive, online booking system
Show exceptional ability in working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Applicants must have a formal qualification in tourism/travel, either a degree or diploma, and previous work experience would be beneficial.
Good computer literacy and excellent typing skills.

Experience and in-depth knowledge of Kruger National Park and surrounding areas in Mpumalanga/Limpopo, as well as good geographical knowledge of other regions in South Africa.

The candidate should be able to write and speak fluent English with excellent communication skills and great attention to detail.
