In-Service Training opportunities at CSIR 2016

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has In-Service Training opportunities within the Material Science and Manufacturing (MSM) unit for undergraduate students. The in-service training programme is designed to provide students with experience and understanding of research and development and the implementation thereof in projects. The programme is spread across various fields, with a strong focus in science, engineering, technology and mathematics. These positions are based in Pretoria.

The CSIR is a leading scientific and technology research organisation, implementing projects throughout Africa and making a difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Students will be assisting researchers and engineers on various projects within the Materials Science and Manufacturing unit.
Qualification requirements
Students should be studying towards the following qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering in the following fields:
  • Mechatronics, Robotics
  • Computer Engineering
  • Metallurgy
  • Materials Science
  • Mechanical
  • Chemical Engineering
A Bachelor’s degree in the following fields:
  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics
  • Operations Research
A National Diploma in the following fields:
  • Electronics
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • Metallurgy
  • Materials Science
