The CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has Internship & In-Service Training opportunities in the Command Control and Information Warfare competence area within theDefence, Peace, Safety and Security unit. The purpose of these programmes is to equip students with technical experience while assisting with software design, implementation, test and deployment. The software development will be in desktop applications, web and mobile domains, depending on the skills and selected technical path of the incumbent. The application domain is command & control technologies in general, ranging from information systems to advanced modelling & simulation. These positions are based in Pretoria. Software testing and evaluation;
Software deployment and use;
Concept development and experimentation support;
Research and development in related command & control technologies.
Qualifications, skills and experience
In-service Training: A national senior certificate (Grade 12) and must be registered for a national diploma in information technology, computer science or computer systems engineering;
Internship: A national diploma in information technology, computer science or computer systems engineering;
Ability to function independently and as part of a team;
Be self-motivated with good communication skills, both verbal and written;
Ability to perform under pressure and manage or contribute to projects within allocated time;
A self-starter, taking initiative to provide innovative solutions to software related problems in the command & control domain, with enthusiasm will be successful in the position.
South African citizenship is required as security clearance is required for this position.
