St Peter’s Prep Schools Academic Internship 2016

St Peter’s Prep Schools are honoured to once again offer Academic Internship opportunities at this Anglican School, set on a rambling 36-acre estate in Sandton.

St Peter’s is committed to creating a training and development environment, and to providing for its specific staffing needs on a long-term basis; in keeping with Employment Equity Principles.
St Peter’s is committed to transformation in the workplace and is aware of the shortage of trained teachers.  The Intern programme is a response to this and one focus area will be the appointment of interns of colour.

Applications are invited from candidates who meet the following criteria:
  • South African citizens, including previously disadvantaged groups.  (These are the following groups:  Coloured, Chinese, Indian, Black, people with disabilities and females across all race groups).
  • Show a commitment and passion toward teaching as a career.
  • Have a track record of successful academic study at school or further education institution, preferably entering the 3rd/4th year of teacher training.   1st and 2nd year students may also be considered on merit, circumstances and assessment of potential.
  • Candidates may be qualified teachers wishing to further their studies or qualified teachers beginning their career and looking to be established in independent schools.
  • Candidates may be degree holders studying toward their post-graduate in education.
  • Willingness and ability to embrace the ethos of the school and fully participate in life at St Peter’s.
  • Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement before they are admitted to the school’s Intern programme.
Should you be interested in the above vacancy and meet the stipulated requirements, please email your full CV and a letter of motivation for the attention of Debra Meyer.  Applications for this position close on Friday, 24 June 2016.  St Peters reserve the right to make an appointment prior to the closing date of this vacancy should a suitable candidate be found.  You are thus encouraged to submit your application timeously.

The appointment of candidates is at St Peter’s sole discretion, taking into account factors such as St Peter’s Employment Equity Policy. Successful applicant will need to produce a police clearance certificate.  An application will not in itself entitle the applicant to an interview or appointment and failure to meet the minimum requirements of the advertised post will result in applicants automatically disqualifying themselves from consideration.  Only short listed candidates will be contacted.  If you have not heard from St Peter’s within 2 weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have been unsuccessful in your application.
