UCL Forestry Internship Opportunity 2016

UCL Company is situated in the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal Midlands approximately 50km from Pietermaritzburg, operates in a diverse agricultural environment.

The rural location of the company provides work and living conditions in the countryside with excellent schooling opportunities in the area. UCL offers attractive remuneration packages that include normal “corporate” benefits.

UCL is inviting applications for a 12-month forestry internship as a contribution towards the Forestry and Sugar cane industry.

The internship is aimed at giving an unemployed graduate the opportunity to gain experience within the Harvesting & Silviculture environment.

  • Assist management with day-to-day aspects of farming operation
  • Assist management with all sugar cane and forestry production
  • Assist management in overseeing all health and safety toolbox talks
  • Assist management in ensuring that all teams are running at optimum output levels
  • Perform office administration duties.
  • Knowledge, skills and attributes required:
  • A recognised tertiary qualification in Forestry or Agriculture
  • Experience in and knowledge of Harvesting or Silviculture would be advantageous
  • Computer literacy with basic level in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Ability to multi-task, remain organised, manage time wisely and prioritise activities
  • Good communication skills and fluency in IsiZulu
  • Valid driver’s licence would be advantageous.
