Marketing Internship at Proudly SA 2016

The Proudly South African Campaign was born out of Socio-economic necessity in 1998 with the Presidential Jobs Summit – under leadership of former South African Pres. 

Nelson Mandela. It was formed from the international research that was based on the Australian buy local campaign. The same concept was bought here in South Africa to address the issues of Job creation through local investment in local products and services.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • To provide secretarial and administrative support to the office of chief officer: marketing and communications 
  • Provide administrative support to the entire marketing and communications team 
  • Assist with the coordination of various events
  • Interact with clients
  • Develop a strong understanding of company’s products and services
  • Assist in various duties as needed
  • Assist with the distribution of marketing material
  • Assist with research 
  • Assist with filing and minute taking of team meetings
  • Assist with ordering of promotional items and packaging for events
  • Assist with setting up branding material for events
  • Assist with pre-event planning
  • Distribution of invitations and RSVP for events
  • Compilation and analysing of customer surveys
  • Assist with project plans
  • Pre and post events reports

• Relevant post-matric qualification
• Code 08 Drivers License
• Secretarial and office administration knowledge and skills
• Solid research knowledge


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, demonstrating outstanding ability to correspond with colleagues, internal and external customers.

Personal Skills/Attributes

  • Ability to manage many tasks at once, work against short deadlines and to remain calm and focused
  • Ability/willingness to work long, irregular hours when required as well as on occasional weekends
  • Ability/willingness to travel occasionally
  • Desire to learn along with professional drive and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as working independently on PR/media projects
  • Ability to assist the PR manager with writing and distributing press releases, media analysis and compiling PR/media reports
  • Ability to produce newsworthy, creative and engaging content
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders and the media
