Internal Communications Graduate at MTN 2016

The Graduate will be trained (formally and ‘on the job’) under the guidance of the line manager, gain knowledge, understanding, insight and hands-on experience and skills of the said area of expertise.

To manage, co-ordinate and control internal communication activities in line with the policy and procedures of Group Corporate Affairs and MTN South Africa.

Context:
· Implementation and managerial support across a varied and deadline driven corporate affairs environment.
· Internal organisational communication across a varied and deadline driven corporate communications environment across the Group.
· Implementation and Support of the Corporate Affairs internal communication strategy, policy and procedure
· Dynamic and fast-changing organisational requirements
· Strengthen the credibility and value added communication services for the organisation from Group

Key Tasks:  The Graduate will be trained (formally and “on the job”)

He/She will, under guidance of the line manager, gain knowledge, understanding, insight and hands-on experience and skills of the following:

Internal Communications South Africa
· Contribute to the development an overall internal communication strategy for MTN South Africa and planning for and managing the internal communications strategy budget
· Assist in the development a policy framework for managing MTN’s internal communications for MTN South Africa
· Strategically communicate and build affinity of staff for MTN South Africa
· Write, edit and proof read all editorial relating to internal communication efforts
· Assist in the implementation of strategic interventions for internal profiling of MTN SA CEO and other senior executives for MTN SA
· Ensure MTN SA-wide communication and understanding of standardised corporate communications tools
· Design, develop and distribute regular internal communications within MTN South Africa and in line with the strategy
· Manage and co-ordinate the image library
· Manage the creation and maintenance of a regular MTN SA wide information network
· Assist in the implementation of internal communications projects across MTN SA
· Prepare and distribute CEO and/or other senior executive communication as required
· Assist MTN SA departments with internal communications requirements across a range of internal print and electronic media
· Manage and update information on MTN SA intranet in collaboration with IS
· Manage crisis communications teams/activities with regards internal communications
· Standardise MTN internal Communication standards
· Conduct regular audits and surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of MTN internal communications for MTN South Africa, taking appropriate steps to improve effectiveness.
· Assist and manage internal communication responsibilities relating to Ad-hoc projects for MTN transformation projects
· Responsible for optimising and improvement of MTN SA internal communication practices
· Track effectiveness of internal communications across MTN SA with tools provided

Detailed Description
The Graduate will be trained (formally and “on the job”)

He/She will, under guidance of the line manager, gain knowledge, understanding, insight and hands-on experience and skills of the following:

· Development of a MTN South Africa internal communications strategic plan
· Implementation of the strategic plan
· Implementation of KPA’s according to agreed performance management system
· Execution of CEO, Group and MTN SA Executive profiling
· Management of service provider(s) according to agreed standards and performance levels
· Relevant and credible communications implements and products delivered as agreed
· Maintenance of photographic database in an accurate and accessible manner
· Archiving of all internal communications material
· Managing internal communications on the Annual and Sustainability Report, Annual and Interim

Results and quarterly updates
· Managing internal communications on the outcomes of the Corporate Reputation Audit
· Engagement in internal communications aspects of crisis communications across the Group
· Full engagement in ad hoc internal communications activities as they may arise
· Timeous delivery of all internal communications
· Updated and relevant MTN SA intranet service
· Input and contribution to corporate communication strategy in terms of communication requirements.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Communication and/or Journalism

Training:
· Advanced computer skills
· Processes of internal written communication practice and procedure
· Written presentations skills
· Advanced computer based communication skills
