Chartered Accountant Training Programme at SARS 2017

SARS seeks to be an employer of choice, not only amongst the public service agencies, but also in the private sector. In the 2012 Companies of the Future publication, SARS came out at number seven in two successive years for being one of the most sought-after employers by Commerce students at South African Universities.

This was ahead of many top JSE-listed companies.

In the 2012/13 Universum Student Survey of all universities and universities of technology in South Africa, SARS was ranked at number three by Business, Management and Commerce students as an ideal employer.

The SARS CA Training Programme is a SAICA accredited training programme developed to give specialised training to increase the pool of professionals and to allow them to qualify as Chartered Accountants CA(SA).

To enhance learning and development it ensures that trainees are given exposure to a business environment providing them with the skills exposure and knowledge to become competent professionals.

The programme equips its trainees with the necessary skills by ensuring
  • access to on-going professional development,
  • interaction with executives and senior managers,
  • access to  subject matter experts and mentors to assist in their personal development,
  • rotation within the various business units at SARS to gain exposure to a wide range of tax subjects.
SARS offers trainees the added advantage of cutting edge exposure to Taxation. It ensures that the trainees’ experience will help broaden their skills acquisition and business acumen to successfully complete their training programme and obtain the prestigious CA (SA) qualification.

The minimum entry requirements for trainees are a B.Com Hons (Accounting) and a Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA)/ Graduate Diploma in Accounting (GDA) or equivalent post graduate qualification.
