Multimedia Journalist Internship at Move Magazine 2017

Media24 is Africa's leading publishing group and offers information and entertainment 24 hours a day. 



The group has interests in newspapers, magazines, internet businesses, book publishing, printing plants and distribution companies.

Many of these publications and businesses are award-winning leaders in their respective fields. Media24 also has many international and local sister companies in the media industry through its holding company, Naspers.

Move! has a year’s internship in its Johannesburg office for a digitally savvy journalist with a special interest in video production.

Apply if you’re:

• interested in digital media and can have a full conversation using only emojis.
• able to easily understand things like SLR, GIF, CMS and TL;DNR.
• capable of producing engaging videos that can hold attention for more than 20 seconds.
• as comfortable shooting a video on a smartphone as you are with a serious camera.
• a lover of stories and storytelling no matter what format and platform.
• curious about the world and the people who live in it and in touch with what’s going on in the world.
• hungry to learn and grow at a fast-growing digital brand.
• Interested in building and engaging with communities

Minimum Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in journalism, languages or media studies;
Skills & Competencies 

• Excellent storytelling skills, especially in video format.
• Good knowledge of Wordpress.
• The ability to work fast and cope under immense pressure.
• The ability to find a fresh angle on a story that’s been pretty much everywhere.
• At least a year digital media experience.
• Excellent general knowledge..
• Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and You tube.
• The ability to work in a team and take direction from an editor.
• Drive, energy and basic awesomeness


Duties & Responsibilities

• Producing stories for www.movemag.co.za and Move! social media platforms in various formats, especially video.
• Assist the online team with uploading content when required.
• Scouring the web for interesting stories that Move! audiences will love.
• Assist with compiling newsletters that Move! audiences will want to open.
• Assist the online team with producing/managing digital campaigns.
