Project Management Office Internship at Proudly SA 2017

The Proudly South African Campaign was born out of Socio-economic necessity in 1998 with the Presidential Jobs Summit – under leadership of former South African Pres. Nelson Mandela. It was formed from the international research that was based on the Australian buy local campaign. The same concept was bought here in South Africa to address the issues of Job creation through local investment in local products and services.

The Proudly South African Campaign will encourage the Nation to make personal and organizational contributions to economic growth and prosperity in South Africa, thereby increasing employment opportunities and reinforcing national pride.

To give administrative support to the line functions and auxiliary activities to the Project Management Office.


  • Assist in development, planning, implementation, review, evaluation, reporting and conclusion of the projects including securing resources and necessary budget.
  • Assist in the development of business requirements, development of functional and program specifications, rational database design, programming, testing, implementation and documentation for applications.
  • Assist in outlining the responsibilities of different parties including customers, management, project team, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in all aspects of projects through cross-functional teams-including meeting time lines, costs targets, quality requirements, and budget constraints.
  • Assist in reviews with management project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the projects
  • Assist to develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, and identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project
  • Assist to identify and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks
  • Assist in activities of project team members to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
  • Assist in preparing project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues
  • Assist in designing and implementation of a Dashboard Reporting System.
  • To provide comprehensive support service to the Projects Manager.
  • Managing the schedule of the Projects Manager. Ensure that all internal meetings involving the Projects Manager are properly planned, with background material collated beforehand and ensuring that appropriate time is allotted for such material to be analyzed by the Projects Manager including the flagging system
  • Ensure that timely follow-up action is taken and that the Projects Manager’s commitments and agreements are appropriately actioned and met.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements including flights, car rentals and accommodation.
  • Performs miscellaneous other appropriate duties as assigned.
The Project Management Intern will report to the Projects Coordinator: CEO’s Office (Project Management, Procurement and Support Services) or any other manager that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for the position:
Qualifications Relevant post-Matric qualification in Project Management or related discipline.

Experience NONE

  • Knowledge of Project Management.
  • Knowledge of reporting related to project management.
  • Understanding and knowledge of office management and practice, secretarial and word processing functions.
  • Knowledge of planning processes and principles.
  • Skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, demonstrating outstanding ability to correspond with colleagues, internal and external customers.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Typing skills and experience of using computer packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational skills, with experience of planning own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Skilled in the usage of e-mail and the internet.
  • Abilities / Attributes 
  • Ability to manage many tasks at once, work against short deadlines and to remain calm and focused.
  • Ability to implement and maintain accurate record-keeping systems.
  • Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team when appropriate.
