Communications/PR Internship at Corporate Image 2018

The ideal candidate would have:
  • A passion for communication and very hard work
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
  • An eye for detail
  • An interest in media and the SA media landscape
  • General knowledge/interest in current affairs
  • An interest in research
Types of work to be undertaken:
  • Monitoring of traditional and new media (print, broadcast, online and social media)
  • Compilation of contact lists (whether media lists, or other)
  • Searching and recording of press clippings
  • Creation or updating of client media coverage reports, as needed
  • Creation or updating of databases, as needed
  • Assistance with developing, writing and distributing approved press releases and press kits, as needed
  • Researching, compiling and writing reports on a variety of socio-economic topics
  • Assistance with mailings, packaging and office administration
  • Assistance with media relations, including research, pitching and liaison
  • Assisting with media follow-ups to track and ensure client placement
  • Assistance with planning and executing special events, if needed
  • Greeting of guests and clients

A university degree in:
  • Communication Science
  • Media Studies
  • Marketing
  • Journalism
  • Sociology
  • English
  • Politics
Non-negotiable skill requirements:

• High-level command of the English language (both written and spoken)
• Copy-editing ability and good command of English grammar
• Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
• Research skills
• Attention to detail

Additional personal skills and attributes:

• Works well under pressure
• Good time management
• Friendly disposition
• Ability to work well in a team
• Takes initiative

  • South African applicants only
  • Applicants must be under the age of 29 years
  • Internship runs from 1 February to 31 July 2018
  • Offices in the Cape Town City Centre (applicants must be based in Cape Town)
  • Full-day position, five days a week
  • Occasional overtime is required
  • Graduate interns receive a monthly stipend
