Jonathan Ball Publishers HR Graduate Opportunity 2017

Jonathan Ball Publishers publishes under the Jonathan Ball, Sunbird, and AD Donker imprints. Jonathan Ball is the leading distributor of English consumer books in South Africa and acts as agents for British and American publishers. In addition, we represent a number of academic, education and independent publishers who form part of our Independent Distributors list.

We have an opening in the HR department for an HR Graduate. The successful candidate will provide an efficient administrative support service to the Human Resources department and to the employees and will be responsible for the coordination of the Jonathan Ball CSI projects and run general administration and warehouse responsibilities.

This is fixed term contract for 12 months.

Minimum Requirements 
• HR Diploma /Degree or Equivalent Industrial/Organisational Psychology degree or equivalent
• Knowledge of relevant labour legislation;
• Knowledge of HR principles, processes, and procedures

Duties & Responsibilities 
• Co-ordinate recruitment activities, including the placement of advertisements, receiving of applications, short-listing of applications, arranging interviews and psychometric testing as well as conducting the required MIE background checks;
• Compile appointment documentation and assist appointee with the sign-on process;
• Maintain employee records (contracts, remuneration details, banking details, address details, contact numbers, position detail, beneficiaries, medical dependents and any other employee benefits) and ensure that necessary systems are updated accordingly;
• Ensure that documentation is up to date and available for audit purposes at all times;
• Support HR Manager in the administration and coordination of processes including: salary increases; share allocations; performance management; incentive bonus payments; package structuring; validation of private medical scheme membership; car allowance calculations and validations; long service awards; bursary contracts; maternity leave agreements; relocation agreements; the COID-process; leave;
• Liaise with payroll department in respect of overtime-, commission-, acting allowance-, shift allowances, cell phone- and subsistence payments and deductions (advances, garnishee- and maintenance orders, unpaid leave, etc.), ensuring that appropriate authorization is obtained prior to payroll processing;
• Assist employees with all HR management- and payroll-related queries;
• Assist employees with UIF claims and related queries;
• Manage the exit experience for existing employees (generate exit documentation, ensure all agreements i.e. bursary/maternity/transfer agreements are executed, assist and advise exiting employees, liaise with 3rd parties to ensure seamless exit transactions);
• Co-ordination of Jonathan Ball Publishers’ CSI projects and running of general administration and warehouse responsibilities
