Legal Interns at Legal Resources Centre 2018

Legal Interns will be exposed to legal research and litigation and will be expected to assist with drafting legal memoranda, providing legal opinions, interviewing clients and assisting the LRC in preparing applications and actions.



About 

The Legal Resources Centre is an independent, client-based, non-profit public interest law clinic, which uses law as an instrument of justice. It works for the development of a fully democratic society based on the principle of substantive equality, by providing free legal services for the vulnerable and marginalised, including the poor, homeless, and landless people and communities of South Africa who suffer discrimination by reason of race, class, gender, disability or by reason of social, economic and historical circumstances.

The Legal Resources Centre seeks to employ a four Legal Interns, to be based in South Africa.
  • Johannesburg
  • Cape Town
  • Grahamstown
  • Durban
This is a six months fixed term contract and there is no prospect for renewal.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with clients
  • Assist with arranging and coordinating workshops where necessary
  • Serve and file
  • Complete basic file management
  • Complete basic drafting
Requirements:
  • Research, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently and with others
  • An LLB or appropriate qualification
  • A passion for Human Rights work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Quality writing and editing skills
  • Valid driver’s licence
