CSIR Internship Opportunity 2019

The CSIR has an internship opportunity for an Intern: Project Administrator in the Biomanufacturing Industry Development Centre (BIDC) within the Biosciences unit. The purpose for this opportunity is to equip graduates with experiential learning and will participate in large multi-disciplinary teams. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to the project management functions. This position is based in Pretoria.



Under Supervision, the intern will be required to:
  • Administer the BIDC projects on a day-to-day basis including record keeping of pertinent project information required by funders and other stakeholders;
  • Monitor time sheets on the relevant projects;
  • Assist with enquiries on expenses incurred against projects;
  • Produce standard reports on expenditure as and when required using the CSIR financial system;
  • Assist with interactions and information requests between the Biomanufacturing Technologies Competency Area and the Finance office.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
  • A diploma or degree in commerce with finance/bookkeeping as major subjects;
  • Postgraduate qualifications and/or relevant working experience would be an advantage;
  • A strong work ethic (e.g. accountability and reliability) and the ability to work under supervision within a dynamic team environment;
  • Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to work under-pressure and multi-task;
  • Good record-keeping skills and organisational ability.
