PwC Graduate Opportunity 2018/19

A training contract is a three year learnership contract with a registered training office. During your learnership with PwC, you will be able to put into practice the theory you have learned at university. You will work in a challenging business environment, travelling to clients on most days, and you will interact with people on various levels.

You may apply for a training contract at any time during your studies. If you are successful, your learnership will start the year after you complete your honours degree or obtain your Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA).

  • You must be studying, or intend to study, at a university to become a chartered accountant of South Africa (CA(SA)).
  • Your degree must be one that is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
  • It will be to your advantage if you participated in extramural activities at school and university.
  • If you are in Grade 12:
  • You must be writing for a matric exemption and university acceptance.
  • Your subjects must include Mathematics and English (Maths Literacy does not qualify).
  • You must be getting over 60% for all your subjects.
  • If you are at university:
  • You must be passing all your subjects consistently.
  • Students must maintain a consistently good academic record at university and pass the required number of subjects in each academic year to PwC's satisfaction.

Responsibilities of students on the learnership
  • During your learnership, you will be expected to:
  • perform audits at various clients in different industries to express an opinion on their financial records;

  • progress steadily during towards qualifying as a CA(SA). This includes writing the qualifying exams and attaining the core hours as prescribed by SAICA.

Sovereign Foods has a proud history of chicken farming in the Eastern Cape, dating all the way back to 1948. The company was started as a family business in the Rocklands Valley near the town of Uitenhage and over time grew into a fully-fledged and integrated poultry business. To this day the entire operation is still based in and around the Rocklands and Uitenhage region.

In 1991 the company was sold to an investment group and subsequently listed on the JSE. Since becoming a public company Sovereign Foods has seen several periods of remarkable financial performance. In 2007 the company was elected as one of the Top 20 JSE-listed companies in South Africa, on the back of strong financial growth.

The successful candidates will join our Maintenance Department for the duration of their Apprenticeship, rotating within the different sites in Uitenhage and Hartebeespoort.

Training Programme Administrator at APT 2018

A small dynamic company situated in the Southern Suburbs has a position vacant for a Training Programme Administrator. The successful candidate will be part of a team of five and will be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer.

Duties will include managing our training programmes as well as assisting with office administrative functions.

APT is the country’s leading presenter of preparation courses for the SAICA APC Examination
written in November of each year,  having prepared 77% of the candidates for the
2014 APC and an estimated 79% in 2015.

APT’s mission is to strive for excellence in the accountancy profession through providing professional programmes leading our students to qualify as Chartered Accountants.

Minimum Requirements
  • Recent graduate with BA or B Soc Science degree.
  • Good IT skills -proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel.

We are seeking a Trainee Fund Accountant, reporting to a Manager within the Debt Division of Sanne, to have responsibility for the preparations of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis. You will typically be responsible for the accounting of a number of portfolios.
