Up to 6-month internship, starting ASAP.

Based either in Singapore, Johanesburg, Princeton or Luxembourg: candidates to be local resident to our respective office locations, you will contribute to day to day Sales Engineering activities.

Your Responsibilities

  • The main objective of the task is to deliver a competitive analysis report summarizing, from a technical perspective, the performance of SES Video products (with a focus on satellite delivery)  
  • Assemble selected satellite downlink EIRP coverage maps available for video services over respective regions  
  • Prepare a comparison of coverage values, both at point level as well as using a "heat map" (mapping and analysis tools available within SES) 
  • Execute reference link budgets for a series of satellite delivery scenarios, and build a comparison focusing on the pre-selected QoS criteria 
  • With defined quality of service criteria's to be used to compare service performance, create performance ranking and define performance co-efficient factor  
  • As part of these activities, you may be required to develop your own set of analysis functions using matlab or VBA. Form most of the tasks you will be using SES internal software under the guidance of the SES supervisor
Your Profile
  • University student with engineering/science background, familiar with communications concepts or with a basic understanding of the physics behind transmission of signals (basic link equation, signal transmission, radar systems). Students of a telecommunications program with courses on electromagnetism, antenna engineering, high frequency systems, communication systems, will be well placed to address this project  
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Visual Basic MS-Office macro's or similar is considered as an asset
  • Able to work independently following the direction agreed with the supervisor at SES,  
  • Good command of english is necessary, both to prepare the final report as well as to communicate within the company 
  • Command of office applications is necessary (Word, Excel)
