JHB Water SOC Youth Development Programme 2018

Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd, the water and sanitation services entity under the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality is embarking on an unemployed youth development programme.

The programme aims to create opportunities for the unemployed youth who are interested in plumbing, bricklaying or welding by providing them with basic skills through an accredited
institution, including practical training. 

Candidates who successfully complete the programme may be considered for a business management skills training programme, which will enable them to establish enterprises and enter the mainstream economy. 

The programme aims to develop technical, business and entrepreneurial skills for unemployed youth who have a minimum matriculation qualification. The programme(s) will run for a maximum period of six (6) months broken down between theoretical classroom training and practical on the job training.

Minimum Requirements: 
• Unemployed youth who are black SA citizens, as defined (i.e.African, Coloured and Indians), and who are aged between 18 and 35 years old 
• Have an approved academic qualification of Grade 12 or equivalent 
• The programme is targeted at the following designated groups: unemployed youth who are black, women and people with disabilities 
• Applicants must be permanent residents in one of the following areas within the City of Johannesburg: 
* Orange Farm, Diepsloot, Soweto, Ivory Park, Alexandra, Eldorado
Park, Lenasia 
* Johannesburg CBD & surrounds (i.e. Riverlea, Bosmont, Brixton, Doornfontein,
Braamfontein, etc.).

Only applicants who meet the above requirements should submit the following supporting
documentation in a sealed envelope: 
• Curriculum Vitae (CV) no longer than 2 pages 
• Proof of identity (i.e. certified copy of SA Green Bar Coded Identity Document or Smart ID Card)
• Certified Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent (i.e. Matric Senior Certificate) 
• Provide a ½ – 1 page written motivation on why they should be considered for the programme 
• Confirmation of address (a Municipality account) together with an affidavit for proof of residence in targeted
areas and letter signed off by ward councillor confirming residence 
• Affidavit confirming your unemployed status 
• Proof of disability (where applicable).

Incomplete applications or documentation will not be considered.


Completed application forms together with the relevant supporting documentation in a sealed
envelope must be deposited in the Tender Box situated at the entrance to 17 Harrison St,
Marshalltown for the attention of the Accreditations and Supplier Development Manager,
Ms Ithuteng Tabe.

Should an applicant not receive a response by 31 August 2018, please consider your application
as being unsuccessful.
