Digital Marketing & PR Internship Rhino Africa 2018

With its bespoke new headquarters situated in the urban jungle of Woodstock, Rhino Africa is more than just the leading safari company in Africa (for five years running!).

With a portfolio of properties across the continent and as the winners of a distinguished African Excellence Award for our 2020 Vision, Rhino Africa's Talent department is perhaps the busiest in-house Talent agency in Cape Town. Our drive to be the best in the business is motivated by our vision to make a positive impact through our various CSR intiatives.

From our humble beginnings, with under 10 employees in 2004, we have grown into a quirky mixture of over 200 entrepreneurs, tech boffins and the most promising graduates from all across the globe - our “Rhino Crash” - as we like to call them. This melting pot of talent, where interaction and collaboration is encouraged, allows our interns to flourish and reach their full potential.

To showcase Rhino Africa as a top employer, while simultaneously creating an environment focused on life-long learning, we're searching for a master multi-tasker to join our Talent team, spearheaded by our Talent Manager.

Our ideal PR prodigy will inspire the job market through content creation, digital marketing and even some multimedia design and photography. Promoting Rhino Africa as a place to work, the Digital Marketing & PR Internship is all about enhancing our employer brand.

Beginning with a 4-week training program coordinated by Rhino Africa's award-winning in-house marketing agency, your responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to:

  • Writing content, capturing pictures and creating designs for advertising initiatives, up-and-coming projects and current brand marketing features, like the 'Spotlight On' series
  • Building Rhino Africa's employer brand via campaigns and multimedia communication strategies aimed at marketing Rhino Africa as a place to work
  • Managing Rhino Africa's LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and assisting with B2B marketing strategies
  • Attending university events, organizing in-house networking events and forming lasting relationships with international and local tertiary institutions as well as businesses and recruitment agencies
  • Assisting in the development of Rhino Africa's flagship Talent Tattler - announcing new starters, leavers and exciting company events/celebrations
  • Contributing to Rhino Africa's first-of-its-kind careers blog - offering candidates advice on best practices, CV tips & 'How to become a Rhino African'
  • Playing a pivotal role in the development of Rhino Africa’s first ever graduate programme
  • Arranging recruitment best practice workshops for hiring managers and recruiting teams
  • Conducting research to gain insight on the latest trends in titles, salaries and talent acquisition

This is all it takes to roll with the Rhinos:
  • Hold (or be pursuing) a degree in any field that renders you the ideal candidate - we believe in strength in diversity
  • Show us the desire to grow and develop within a multimedia, digital marketing or talent-related career - we seek to inspire
  • Strong computer literacy - we're a digital company, so everything is on the net
  • Possess the gift of the gab - we're all about excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a team player who is not afraid to pass the ball - collaboration is one of our core values
  • Be willing and able to relocate to Cape Town if you are not here already - it's only the world's most beautiful city #justsaying
Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged South African citizens.

At Rhino Africa, there’s a smorgasbord of added delights:
  • Carry out your craft in gorgeous offices located in the heart of Cape Town, the world's most beautiful city.
  • To ensure we attract only the best of the best, we offer each intern a stipend of R5,000 per month. Interns also receive monthly vouchers worth R250 to enjoy hearty meals, delicious coffees and sweet treats from our own master chefs and expert baristas.
  • We assign each new intern a ‘tracker’ to guide them through the jungle, introduce them to their fellow Rhinos and our unique family culture.
  • We offer each of our Rhinos exclusive access to the Roaming Rhinos online travel portal, so they too can explore our glorious continent. With the keys to the kingdom you'll unlock travel deals for yourself, your family and your friends. From breathtaking African experiences to getaways at our inspiring locations, you’ll receive up to 90% discount from 80 different partners and suppliers across 7 countries.
  • Interns are encouraged to soak up our culture and participate in social and community events, while getting to know their colleagues from all around the world. Head on over to our @RhinoAfrica_Life Instagram page for a sneak peek of our Rhinos at work (and play!)
