McCain Foods Apprenticeship Opportunity 2018

McCain Foods (Pty) Ltd is committed to skills development and training, continuous learning, career planning, coaching, recognition and reward. Apprenticeship contracts are available for employment at the Springs Plant, with the purpose to provide young workers who have completed their compulsory schooling with general, theoretical and practical training with a view to obtaining a vocational qualification backed by a technical /artisan certificate.

Purpose of the Job:

The incumbent will be responsible for the completion of all required Foodbev Seta theoretical modules for the trade, complete logbooks or written assessment tools supplied by McCain Foods and/or a training provider to record relevant workplace experiences and attend all study periods and theoretical learning sessions with the training provider and undertake all learning conscientiously. He/she will undergo intensive on-the-job training and other related trading including the plant process. In addition, the incumbent will be trained and exposed to problem solving and trouble shooting skills, provide support to the production process with adequate levels of availability and reliability and demonstrate the ability to practically conduct maintenance and installations. Candidates must be willing to sign a two-year apprenticeship programme contract with McCain Foods (Pty) Ltd and the FoodBev Seta.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
  • NTC/N4 with good trade theory relevant to the apprenticeship respective trade or
  • National Certificate (Vocational) Qualification Level 4 or higher with subjects all passed or
  • Training matric including Pure Mathematics and Physical Science passed with relevant trade theory
  • Must be able to identify colours (only applicable for the electrical and millwright trade)
