I&J Graduate Programme 2018

The I&J Graduate Programme is a 24 month programme that offers experiential learning; mentoring; and working with subject matter experts in their respective fields. We give our graduates a platform to present ideas and innovations and be change-makers. Are you ready?


Part of the AVI Limited group of companies and based in Cape Town, I&J is a vertically integrated business, largely reliant on the performance of its trawling operation for securing the primary raw material, Cape Hake, but is also inclusive of the I&J Danger Point Abalone Farm.

The farm is located along the coast of Gansbaai (Overberg Region) and involves a team who have integrated the world’s most advanced aquaculture systems to perfect the technique of growing prime abalone.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Research and Development graduate will gain skills and knowledge to provide wide-ranging support to the Diatom/Algae production area. 
  • The successful graduate will develop a comprehensive understanding of the processes and procedures, and be actively involved in data collection, the analysis thereof and sharing insights when presenting these reports during discussions.


  • Applicants interested in the programme must have strong leadership abilities, an analytical mindset; and be a team player with a passion for achieving.

Experience Required

  • Any vacation experience or part-time work is ideal.
  • Minimum Qualifications Required BSc in Microbiology or Biological Sciences
  • Have a minimum average of 60% in your final year
Knowledge Required
  • Able to reside and work in Gansbaai essential (200km from Cape Town)
