Brief Role Description:

Mimecast’s Middle East and Africa Accounting team located in Johannesburg is offering a 3 month student internship in January 2019.

Mimecast’s Accounting internship will provide insight into the day to day activities of a publicly traded SAAS company. You’ll have the opportunity to work across various roles within the Middle East and Africa Accounting function that include Accounting, US GAAP Reporting, Sarbanes Oxley Compliance as well as assisting with quarterly and annual financial audit. We went public in November 2015. You’ll get insight into how we are progressing post IPO as an Accounting department while being public, and how we want to scale given our rapid growth.

The Accounting intern will be responsible for:

  • Assist with month-end close process relating to journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support the accounting team in preparing and delivering compliance and audit requirements
  • Help processing accounting transactions and assist with day to day treasury
  • Assist with Interoffice reporting deliverables for financial year end   
  • Special projects that span various functions within Accounting and Finance

The successful candidate must have completed the following in the last year:

  • Completed at least an undergraduate Finance or Accounting degree
  • Currently working towards Honours degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills

The internship commences mid-January until the end of April and requires a commitment of at least 40 hours per week.
