Alfa Laval Data Base Internship Opportunity 2020

Alfa Laval South Africa is looking for a Data Base Intern for a 12 months internship contract extracting, importing and working with large amounts of data Analysis, summarising and visualising data to identify trends and insights Building and productionalising reports.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for analysis, developing, and implementing IB (Installed Base) clean up and continuous implementation process and procedure using current systems.
  • Functions as technical architect for the implementation IB (Installed Base) clean-up project
  • Participate in multiple projects simultaneously as an implementation team member.
  • Work harmoniously in a cross-functional team comprising business, development, implementation, and support to deliver quality solutions within budget and on time.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for updates to databases.
  • Diagnose database performance (i.e. Optimization) issues.
  • Document application process for future maintenance and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with teams with Solution implementation procedures.
  • Check and diagnose to ensure all database systems meet business and performance requirements.
  • Test and ensure information and processes from additional databases like SMS and ALSO pulls through to IB to capture history
  • Work in teams to ensure processes for SMS and ALSO (internal systems) are put in place and followed.
  • QR Code project implementation.

Requirements:

  • Computer Science/IT or related qualification
  • Applicants must have a workplace experience letter from institution
  • MS office (PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Participation in a data science accelerator program would be advantageous
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a South African citizen


Required Competencies: 

  • A meticulous database admin intern.
  • Duties managing database access, database security/integrity and backup procedures
  • Keeping databases up to date - archiving data.
  • Good organizational skills, Communication and interpersonal skills
  • A logical approach to work
  • The ability to priorities tasks
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems windows and Problem-solving skills
  •  Meticulous attention to detail
