My Vote Counts Internship Opportunity 2020

MVC seeks to appoint one Electoral Systems Intern and one Communications Intern on a 6-month fixed term contract at its Cape Town office. This is a paid part-tinne position. Interns will be expected to work 3 days a week.

My Vote Counts (MVC) is a non-profit that aims to improve the accountability, transparency and inclusiveness in South Africa, political and electoral systems. We achieve our aims through research, advocacy, campaigning, popular education a. strategic litigation.

Communications Intern Responsibilities: 
• Develop content plan with Communications Officer.
• Develop campaign related content for website, social media and mainstream media.
• Network with civil society organisations and media in and around South Africa.
• Assist with planning seminars, workshops and events.
• Attend meetings and events as delegated by Communications Officer or Director.
• Be willing to travel outside of Cape Town.

• Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Marketing a must
• Proven written articles or other content (please forward porffolio or links to your work)
• The ability to come up with engaging content and ideas around the work we do
• Social media experience
• WordPress or other web publishing skills preferable
• A keen interest in politics a must
• Knowledge and or interest in advocacy advantageous
• Great interpersonal skills a must
• Ability to build and maintain relationships a must
• Proficiency in another language other than English advantageous
