SAASTA Video Production Volunteers Programme 2021

The South African Agency for Science a Technology Advancement (SAASTA, a business unit of National Research Foundation) on behalf of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) is looking for video production volunteers to participate as volunteers in the National Youth Service of the Department of Science and Innovation.

The graduates will be based in Pretoria at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA), where they will contribute to the expansion of the science communication through the use of audiovisual techniques.

The applicants will be responsible for stagnant and digital photographing to produce video, as well as completed products such as video clips, motion pictures and even a stream able show.

A stipend will be paid to volunteers per month as follows: National Diploma NQF Level 6 (R 4 500), Bachelor’s Degree / B.Tech NQF Level 7 (R 5 000), Honours NQF Level 8 (R 5 500), Master’s NQF Level 9 (R 6 500), PhD NQF Level 10 (R 7 700).

  • Grade 12 plus 3 years National Diploma (NQF level 6) / Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Video Production/ Videography /Film and TV.
  • The Videographer & Editor volunteer will develop and create visual storytelling across multiple platforms, using both photography and videography to inform, and engage.  Editing video and sound.
  • Being a highly creative and innovative individual with a positive attitude and ability to laugh at yourself is vital. You must be open minded and truly be able to think out of the box.
  • The ideal candidate should be meticulous with an eye for detail, as well as deadline driven with a love for a high-paced working environment.
  • The ability to prioritize is business critical, along with the abilities to be flexible, adaptive to a fast-paced environment, multitask and travel nationally.
  • Ability to handle tasks with fast turnaround times
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Artistic, creative and computer literate with knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Enthusiastic and energetic attitude and a willingness to learn
