MSF Southern Africa Content Internship Opportunity 2020

The MSF Southern Africa has a content intern who will work with the INPUT team – the team in the Communications Department responsible for positioning, branding and content production for MSF Southern Africa. He/she supports the team to produce content (articles, videos, pictures, animations, etc.) and to maintain an archive of all content produced and consent forms and contact information related to content production. He/she will also help with tasks related to sustaining relationships with fieldworkers and external designers/editors.

Content Development – Design and Editing
  • Complete basic design tasks assigned by multimedia producer and/or content specialist
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning for new content projects
  • Provide feedback and suggestions as part of content review process
  • Assist with basic text editing as required
  • Assist with transcribing recordings from interviews, videos, etc.
  • Source images from MSF media database as required
Support to the INPUT Team
  • Maintain archive/database of all material produced, including uploading content to MSF media database
  • Maintain records related to content production, including consent forms and contact details
  • When necessary, liaise with fieldworkers and/or external designers/editors
Content Project Administration/Project Management
  • Assist Input team to develop plans and timelines per content project
  • Update project plans and timelines and follow up on agreed deadlines within the team
  • Ensure that all new content requests are logged and processed
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Provide additional support as requested
Education

  • Completed degree or diploma in communication or creative arts.
  • Training in design.
  • Training photography/videography an advantage.
Experience
  • 1-2 years’ design experience.
  • Experience in design for digital platforms.
  • Content development experience.
  • Experience working in a high-pressure creative environment.
Knowledge and skills
  • Basic knowledge of project management and organising events and activities.
  • MS Office 365.
  • Adobe creative suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).
  • Excellent written and spoken English and ability to edit in English.
  • Knowledge of other languages an advantage, particularly Portuguese, other Southern African languages.
