The Daily Maverick Lifestyle Internship Programme 2020

The Daily Maverick is on the lookout for two enthusiastic Lifestyle Interns with a big passion for magazine-style writing – think 1843, the New Yorker – and video, to work with our team during three months; you don’t have to be skilled in video/multimedia journalism, but having an interest in multimedia journalism is a bonus!

 Our ideal candidates are motivated, hard-working, proactive, creative, multitaskers with great written and verbal communication skills.

What we’re looking for: 
  • A great attitude
  • Someone who is deadline-driven and able to manage multiple projects, work across departments and communicate effectively
  • Be ready to roll up your sleeves and get the job done
  • Willing to hone onto your craft and learn new skills
  • Excellent writing skills. We are looking for someone who is able to pitch topical, informative and inspirational stories, write weekly short- and long-form features, conduct interviews and in-depth reviews
  • An insatiable curiosity for life – culture, dance, music, art, architecture, motoring, design, fashion, beauty and more.
  • A keen eye for detail and love for research 
You need to know:
The position is based in Cape Town only
The position is full-time for a minimum of three months with an option to extend to six months
