MSD Graduate Programme 2020

Future Leaders will be selected for a two year graduate program and placed in eight divisions including Oncology, Market Access, Digital, Legal, IT, Quality Assurance, Clinical Research and Data Science depending on your choice of career. In the divisions you will have access to some of the best minds in the business, acquiring valuable new skills and being part of high deliverable projects.

1. Clinical Research Graduate x 2

This is a developmental position within GCTO South Africa. The purpose is to ultimately develop and equip the candidate by learning the skills required to fulfill a role within the Research and Development Industry.

Job Description

  • The position is to provide a multi-disciplinary supportive role towards all teams in the Clinical Research division.
  • Assisting in meeting Site Ready dates.
  • Assisting the Regulatory and finance/budgeting teams.
  • The candidate will collaborate at local level closely with Clinical Trial Coordinators, Clinical Operations Managers, Clinical Research Managers and Clinical Research Associates


  • Business/ Health Sciences Degree
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
  • Post graduate qualification would be an advantage
  • Drivers License


2. Oncology Graduate 

The Oncology Graduates will support the Brand and Customer managers with key projects and is responsible for the following activities related to Oncology portfolio (of brands).

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Marketing team with the Botswana launch
  • Commercialization preparation and marketing plans for various indication
  • Assist with forecasting
  • Develop marketing material to support the launch
  • Work cross functionally to ensure successful outcome on various tasks within the Oncology Marketing space.
  • Manage and support with the Internal compliance approval process for all events, including Sponsorships, and small meetings
  • Market Analysis of potential new product launches.
  • Conduct Market analysis to map out current situation, competitive environment, set up forecast and to identify new development opportunities within new therapeutic areas
  • Support BCM’s on ad hoc initiatives and identified brand plan opportunities that will drive growth for the portfolio
  • Support on L3 brand planning process and digital activities/materials


3. Market Access Graduate

The Market Access Graduates will support the Cross functional Team with key projects and is responsible for the following activities across all brands at our company.

The successful incumbent will undergo a comprehensive development program over a period of 24 months.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Market Access Team with various campaigns as required from the HH business
  • Working with a specific funders and data suppliers on a dedicated negotiations or analysis within key therapeutic areas
  • Briefing the Data supplier on a data spec
  • Managing the applicable timelines and outcomes as agreed with the Marketing Team
  • Presenting the analysis with input form regional Core/local medical and the local market access team
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure successful outcomes digital access
  • Presentations and workshops to improve the digital maturity of the employees
  • Utilising current market data (Footfall, spend, market analytics) to construct models advising commercial teams on targeting and strategy direction
