MISA Apprenticeship Programme 2024

Apply now for the MISA Apprenticeship Programme 2024. MISA is offering Apprenticeship and Experiential Learnership opportunities aimed at providing training and work exposure for Apprentices and Experiential Learners, with placements in identified municipalities.

A. MISA APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (REF NO: APP INTERN 01/2024): This three-year Learnership Programme focuses on training successful learners to become Artisans, open to candidates from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and accredited training institutions. Successful candidates will undergo on-the-job and off-the-job training, leading to qualification as Artisans, with placements in municipalities.

Apprenticeship Programme Trades: Plumbing, Bricklaying, Electrical, Diesel Mechanic, and Motor Mechanic. See below for academic requirements:

- Electrical: Engineering Science or full N2 Engineering with relevant trade theory, Technical trade theory programs equivalent to NQF Level 3, Engineering NC(V) Certificate, Technical Grade 11, or relevant N6 certificate.

- Plumbing, Bricklaying, Diesel Mechanic, and Motor Mechanic: Specific academic requirements detailed in the application form.

B. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME - GRADUATES IN TECHNICAL FIELDS (REF NO: EL INTERN 11/2024a): This 2-year internship is for graduates in technical fields relevant to municipal infrastructure operations and maintenance. It is open to unemployed graduates from Universities, Universities of Technology, and TVETs.

C. WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING (REF NO: EL INTERN 11/2024b): This programme provides practical work experience for learners requiring 12 - 24 months of work integrated learning in Civil and Electrical Engineering and Town and Regional Planning. Applicants must be willing to relocate and are not guaranteed employment post-qualification.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications must be submitted on the MISA application form, available on www.misa.gov.za or www.cogta.gov.za, with the reference number of the position applied for included. 

All applications need to include the following:

- Reference number of the applied trade/position and the name of municipality as per the list

- Curriculum vitae

- Certified copies of relevant qualifications

- Certified copy of the applicant's South African identity document

- Proof of residential address

Note: Though the advert is aimed at attracting applicants across all municipalities in the nine provinces of SA, applicants residing from the listed provinces are encouraged to apply, based on the below list of municipalities (Under paragraph D).

MISA reserves the right to / not to make appointments. If no response is received from MISA in 90 days after the closing date, it must be presumed that your application was unsuccessful. Correspondence regarding the advertised positions will be limited to successful candidates only.

1. Applicants will be subjected to suitability checks including qualifications, employment, credit, criminal records, company ownership / directorship and reference checks.

2. Fax, post and hand delivered applications will not be accepted.

3. Applications received after the closing date and time will not be considered.

4. Fraudulent qualifications or documentation will immediately be disqualified.

5. Successful candidates will be subjected to a medical fitness test.

6. Direct or indirect canvassing for preferential treatment will lead to immediate disqualification of the relevant applicant.
