Apply now for the Agricultural Research Council Internship 2024. The ARC-Small Grains (ARC-SG) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position:

INTERNSHIPS X5: GERMPLASM DEVELOPMENT FOR SMALL GRAIN

(THREE (3) YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Key Performance Areas:

• Contribute to research and technical activities of multiple projects.

• Participates in planning and coordinating glasshouse, field and laboratory experiments.

• Carry out data collection, capturing, and basic analysis under supervision.

• Participates in the identification and development of new business opportunities.

• Participate in the successful transfer of scientific technology i.e. compilation of reports, oral and poster presentations.

• Pro-actively provide technical input within the context of the research project/s.

• Contribute to research by rendering desired support to research staff and optimise the utilisation of resources allocated to projects.

• Utilise and maintain facilities, apparatus and equipment.

• Comply to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• A 3 year National Diploma in Agriculture/Biotechnology/Crop Production/Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant

Science/Molecular Biology or related fields.

• Knowledge of maintenance of equipment and infrastructure needed for research.

• Understanding of basic principles of research.

• Flexible and strong willingness to learn.

• Verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office.
