GAAP Point of Sale Desktop Support Technician Internship 2024

Apply now for the GAAP Point of Sale Desktop Support Technician Internship 2024. The successful applicant will be reporting to Infrastructure Management or their nominees at GAAP where applicable. This is a fixed term contract of 12 months and an offer for permanent employment thereafter may be possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Address user tickets regarding hardware, software and networking

• Walk customers through installing applications and computer peripherals

• Ask targeted questions to diagnose problems

• Guide users with simple, step-by-step instructions

• Conduct remote troubleshooting

• Test alternative pathways until you resolve an issue

• Customize desktop applications to meet user needs

• Record technical issues and solutions in logs

• Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel

• Follow up with clients to ensure their systems are functional

• Report customer feedback and potential product requests

• Help create technical documentation and manuals

Desired Experience & Qualification

• * National Senior Certificate

• NQF Level 5 (or higher) Tertiary Qualification in the IT field OR

• Active enrolment studying towards an NQF 5 Tertiary Qualification in the IT field

• Experience in Windows 7 up to and including Windows 10

• Working knowledge of office automation products and computer peripherals, like printers and scanners

• Knowledge of using Microsoft Office 365

• Knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs

• Physical capability to work in tight spaces and be on the move most of the day, daily.

Bonus Skills / Qualifications:

• Experience using the Linus CLI

• A+ and / or N+ Certificates

• Microsoft Certifications are a big bonus.

Interested?

• Please note that working hours for this position are from 08:00am – 17:00pm, Monday to Friday but you may be required to work overtime. This position does not involve working weekends unless maintenance needs to be done on the network or in the server rooms.

• *This position entails 24-hour standby, should anything go wrong, it is a requirement that you are contactable at all hours.
