Apply for KILT Junior IT Support Internship 2025 (part-time). The Junior IT Support role at the Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching (KILT) provides essential support to the IT Support Specialist in maintaining KILT’s technological infrastructure.
Working part-time, the Junior IT Support will assist in handling basic technical support requests, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring smooth operation of IT systems. This role supports KILT employees, project teams, and stakeholders by addressing day-to-day IT issues and contributing to system efficiency.
REPORTING TO KILT IT & Data Support Specialist
1. Technical Support (40%)
• Assist in responding to basic IT support tickets from staff, resolving common hardware,
software, and connectivity issues.
• Use remote troubleshooting tools (e.g., AnyDesk) to help staff with minor IT issues and perform system updates.
• Provide first-level support for Office 365 applications, password resets, and account setups.
2. System Maintenance and Monitoring (25%)
• Monitor basic system performance, including LAN and Wi-Fi connectivity, to report any issues to the IT Support Specialist.
• Assist in managing data backups and ensuring routine backup processes are executed correctly.
• Support the setup and maintenance of OneDrive and SharePoint for structured and accessible data storage.
User Training Assistance (15%)
• Assist in conducting quarterly training sessions for staff by preparing materials, guiding
users through basic functions, and answering simple technical questions.
• Help create user-friendly documentation on IT processes and common troubleshooting steps for easy reference.
• Attend relevant training sessions for professional development to improve IT skills and stay updated on new technologies, enabling better support for KILT staff.
Cybersecurity Support (10%)
• Assist in routine cybersecurity checks, including running software updates and monitoring for suspicious activity.
• Ensure adherence to basic data protection practices by supporting staff with secure login setups and password management.
Inventory and Documentation (10%)
• Maintain accurate records of IT inventory and ensure all equipment is logged and tracked.
• Support the IT Support Specialist in updating documentation for IT policies, processes, and system configurations.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Matric.
• 18 - 25 year olds
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users (English and Afrikaans/IsiXhosa).
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions from the IT and Data Support Specialist.
• Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and IT practices.
