Apply now for the Barloworld Risk & Insurance Intern 2024. This role will interface with senior leadership within the organization, including members of the Group Exco, Divisional CEOs and their respective Exco members, Non-Executive Directors and their subcommittees. You will also collaborate with external stakeholders such as Insurance Brokers, Markets, Short-term and Long-term insurers, IISA, IRMSA, and Lloyds.
The intern will assist with the day-to-day activities of the Barloworld Corporate Office (BCO) and the Group Risk & Insurance functions. Key responsibilities include:
Risk Management:
- Assisting with preparation for quarterly divisional and Group risk committee meetings.
- Supporting the Group Head: Risk & Insurance with all Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) requirements.
- Contributing to the advancement of the Group's risk maturity.
- Preparing weekly insights on ERM.
- Attending risk meetings and taking notes.
Insurance:
- Assisting with preparation for the Group Insurance renewal and weekly insurance meetings.
- Maintaining records of all short-term insurance claims.
- General Administration and Support:
- Managing day-to-day risk and insurance functions.
- Providing general administrative support.
- Handling internal and external communication.
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management & Insurance (or a related field).
- Understanding of relevant industry acts (e.g., Short Term Insurance Act).
- Knowledge of COSO, King IV, and ISO frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Advantageous:
- Certificate of Proficiency (IISA).
- Prior work experience in risk management or insurance.
