Education:

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma/Degree in Health & Safety Qualification

Licenses: Valid Code 8/10 driver’s license

Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 legislation
  • Knowledge of environmental-related legislation is advantageous

Residency: Must reside in the Limpopo Province, specifically Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality/Glenover outside Lephalale

Health: Must be able to obtain a valid medical certificate of fitness to work in an opencast mine setting

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily SHHEQ (Safety, Health, Hygiene, Environment, and Quality) functions
  • Write SHE reports
  • Support in managing Safety files, Induction, Training, Legal appointments, and competency cards
  • Report to the Manager and Junior SHE Officer within agreed-upon timeframes
  • Assist in recording, reporting, and investigating incidents and accidents, monitoring action plans for implementation of recommendations
  • Conduct periodic workplace and equipment inspections and audits (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly)
  • Assist in managing waste management and recycling programs to minimize environmental impact
  • Conduct toolbox talks
